Take time to look.

A desk by Gio Ponti, a figure modelled in clay, a contemporary painting. In the gallery, you can sit, move closer to a work and return to a detail. A stay offers a rare opportunity: to find what caught your eye waiting for you again the next day.

  • Two armchairs among sculptures, paintings and a vintage motorcycle in the gallery overlooking the street.

    Myth takes shape.

Alfeo, Aretusa and L’abbraccio: Angelo Iozza gives clay form to figures from Syracuse’s mythology. In the gallery, you encounter the originals at close quarters, in the material the artist used to shape them.

  • The red Moto Guzzi Guzzino displayed between two busts in the Cool Dreams gallery.

    What catches your eye?

Two late nineteenth-century satyrs, a Moto Guzzi Guzzino, painting from today. The gallery brings together objects far apart in age and expression. Let a face, a colour or a memory hold your attention.

  • A stone doorway frames a wood and cane sideboard and a blue abstract painting, partly concealed by the masonry.A white bust beside a view of the courtyard, with a wood and cane seat upholstered in green in the foreground.

The discovery continues, room by room.

Artworks are found throughout the palazzo: at the entrance, in the breakfast room, on the way to your room. You can encounter another artist simply by stepping into the next space.

Iozza–Kaleido

From water to stone. From myth to city.

Angelo Iozza’s original clay sculptures inspired a study by Kaleido Studio StP for Ortigia’s public spaces. L’abbraccio, Aretusa and Alfeo are imagined at monumental scale in bronze, in dialogue with the city’s stone, water and settings.

The three presentation boards illustrate the proposal and possible locations. In the gallery, you can see the original works and the banner devoted to the study.
